Intermediate jacket

In some cases, it is necessary to incorporate a so-called intermediate jacket in the cable:

1. To optimize the appearance of a cable with irregular cable structure (roundness, single wires visible etc.)
2. To increase space between first and second shield (electr. requirements)
3. To reduce the cable noise of low noise cables

Feasibility, operational security, operating life, and environmental compatibility are the main decision criteria for the selection of the adequate insulation and/or jacket material. However, material consumption, procurement and conversion cost also have a strong influence on the decision.

The modern insulation and jacket material in today's cable manufacturing include:

1. Thermoplastic synthetics
2. Connected thermoplastics
3. Thermoplastic elastomer
